We have just lost our 3 year old GSD very suddenly. She was full of energy and joy and now she is gone. She had a minor episode of bloat but recovered quickly. I changed her diet and read up on management but I did not know that she could have had an operation to stop the stomach turning over. A few days later this happened. We rushed her to the vet and they operated succesfully but she died the next day. Anyone who thinks their dog has had an episode of bloat no matter how minor get the operation and save yourself this heartache and guilt.

Re: Bloat Please don't feel guilty, you were not to know; did the vet suggest an op? I don't remember my vet doing an operation unless the dog was bloating and then they stitched the stomach to stop it rotating. I am so sorry to read your tragic news.
Re: Bloat I am so sorry Sue what a horrible shock to go through. You mustn't feel guilty. Thank you for taking the time when you must be so upset to warn others about bloat and it's complications it's very good of you. Take care x
