..for about a week after we bring our puppy home. It's with the same dog behaviourist we've booked puppy classes with, but they don't start until mid September after the puppy's vaccinated.
The trainer comes to the house and advises on training, biting, time alone, socialisation with people and other dogs as well as basic obedience exercises. He's all about positive methods as well and offers dog rehab to rehomed dogs.
Obviously I've read all about this in Pippa's books but feel someone coming and helping when we're in the beginning of it with him and seeing him how he is individually could help a lot, especially with my little ones about.

That's super pro-active. Hopefully, he'll be someone you can trust so that you can get further help down the line if you feel you need it.

Sounds like a good idea :) Even if you just end up feeling reassured that you're doing all the right things.

Yes exactly, I don't want to cause myself problems accidentally.
I see you're from Australia, where abouts? I travelled a bit in Australia for a year when I was 20/21 on a working holiday visa. Had such a great time and have fab memories, I love the country! I only did some of the east coast, from Sydney to Cairns. Lots more to explore one day, can't wait to go back.
    :)

    Great idea Sarah!

I think it helps a lot for a 3rd party expert to see what you are doing. My supervisor teaches me more with every visit. Little things make a big difference with pups.

Sounds like a fab idea. I wish I would of had this forum and a trainer much earlier than I did as I think I would of learned a lot and training would of been a bit easier. Good luck

I didn't get to Canberra but loved Sydney. Stayed there for about 3-4 months :)
