    Good day everyone,

Wondering if it would be possible to get some feedback in regards to my little girls broken nail. Going to try and book a vet appointment in the morning. But wondering if anyone has any past experiences or insight in regards to it. Whether it could be manageable at home. She wasn't her normal self this evening on our walk/playing fetch and noticed it due to limping a bit. She doesn’t seem to be licking or biting it or anything like that. Thank you for any and all help![IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

I just went through this with my 4 yr old Marley. He broke a toenail towards the end of
January and I only noticed it it because of him licking at it constantly. Took him to the vet and they removed the nail all the way back to the toe. Had to put him out to do it.

Once the bandages came off, it became very difficult to keep him from licking at it because the cone didnt stop him from licking straight down (this is a front paw). Anyway, it became infected, so he went on antibiotics and they gave me a nylon foot shield to wear to deal with the licking. But because it wasn't exposed to air, it wasn't healing properly, so he could only wear the medi-paw at night or when I had to go out. He had to have daily foot soakings with some kind of medicine mixed with water that he'd stand in for 5 minutes. The rest of time
I had to watch him constantly to keep him from licking.

After about two weeks of this, it finally started to heal and he stopped licking at it. Now it's about a month later and just a little stub of a nail has grown back and the vet says that may be all it will grow to, but it doesn't seem to bother him at all. It's hard to believe that such an innocuous little injury could turn into such an epic battle. I sure hope it goes better for you and your little girl! Best of luck.
