I picked up some dog food and a new bully stick for Maisie today. They had a different brand that was cheaper than their normal one so I grabbed that (I figured, how different can dried bull penises really be…). The person at the cash says "oh you'll have to give us a review of those, we haven't had that brand here before!" Well. Here is my review: If you are desirous of turning your labrador's butt into an elaborate shit fountain multiple times in one day, this is the bully stick for you. If you are among those picky pup owner's who prefer the "kickable shits" instead, do not buy this product. They are closed tomorrow for Victoria Day but I am bringing back the remains (she only had less than 1/4 of it since I don't let her eat too much of a bully stick at one time anyways) and the wrapper! Not sure if I'll ask for my money back since some treats make dogs have upset tummies and may not give most dogs that kind of tummy trouble, but she was fine with the other type of bully stick so it does make me question these ones. Aside from the diarrhea she is fairly normal, a bit sleepier than normal and she took awhile to eat two of her Kongs (will be feeding her the canned easy to digest Royal Canin food tomorrow), but she's happy and fine so I think she'll be alright once it's through her system. Drinking lots of water. The brand was the "Original Bullwinkles."
Oh dear.... I do confess to having a right good laugh at your succinct but deadly review. We had the same result once from some dried kangaroo sticks. Enough said. I hope that Maisie is back to normal soon and also that, based on your feedback, the pet shop ceases to stock this item. We have not had any trouble ourselves with good quality bully sticks (though, as you said, you would think that a bull penis is a bull penis is a bull penis...but apparently not).
Oh dear! Poor girl. I do find different brands of both rawhide and bully sticks vary a lot in terms of upsetting tums. Right now, I'm out of options on both (my regular brand of rawhide changed and now upsets Charlie's tum). So just kongs for us right now. I hope she is back to normal soon.
Her poop this morning was a lot better although not up to "par" haha, and she eagerly devoured her kongs this morning (I came back before she was finished and when I let her out of the playpen she just took her Kong and went somewhere else to eat instead of saying hello!) so she should be fine soon. We will stick to the other brand for now… I also checked out a new pet store a few days ago that had a WALL of nylabones and also a wall of puzzle toys… for reasonable prices! So I'll go back soon when I have more time to check that out so she'll have lots of stuff to play with soon!
Sorry, but I did snigger at your review Poor Maisie! I traumatised my poor sister when I was over by offering (after checking with her, obviously) her beloved cocker a bully stick. She said fine, but he wouldn't eat it, because he's super picky with food. Bah, he loved it. When I told her what it was, she went green. The next day, I have him some stinky dried tripe, which I think he loved even more. My sister now hates me
Hehehe.... I'm trying to think of an even more appalling body part you can try for the next visit but I think you've already gone straight to the far end of the scale.
