I am getting my lab puppy in a couple of weeks and wondered what size car crate I need (not house crate as I already have one). I have bought a 24” crate for the car and know it won’t last long but will this be big enough for 8 wk pup?

Puppies are not going to like being shut in a crate at first, whether in the house or in the car (unless the breeder has done a lot of crate training with them - which few have). So you will need to teach the puppy to enjoy the crate, preferably in the house first.

With puppies, I much prefer using a harness and the seatbelt to travel with the pup on the front seat next to me or on someone else's lap. That way I can reassure the puppy about car travel when I need to, and I can keep a close eye to see if the pup is getting car sick or anxious and take steps to respond to that immediately - instead of having the pup shut in a crate which I can't keep a close eye on whilst driving.
