Re: Catching Rays!! What a lovely photo. I can really see the pointer in Charlie. What a powerful looking dog!
Re: Catching Rays!! Thanks Heidrun, powerful in mind and body, he sure has tested us . Do you think he looks a little thin, didn't realise those ribs were quite so visible? Helen
Re: Catching Rays!! Difficult to say from a photo. I don't get stressed out by my dogs weight. During the working season all of mine get very slim, so I just give them some high energy stuff to give them a bit more condition and also to keep them going through some very long and hard working days. Especially Murffi can be difficult to keep weight on when he is working. But I prefer dogs on the slim side to overweight dogs.
Re: Catching Rays!! Such beautiful dogs! Charlie's coat is amazing, what a lovely shine. What do you feed your poochies on...they look so well and fit?
Re: Catching Rays!! How lovely! Hattie looks such a softy, laid back Charlie on the other hand is poised to pounce at any second LOL ;D Lovely picture Jac
Re: Catching Rays!! Both beautiful dogs. Charlie is so handsome! I find that when a dog stretches out a bit the last few ribs become visible. If you can't really see his ribs when he's standing normally then I wouldn't worry. He looks well muscled and healthy.
Re: Catching Rays!! Thanks for your lovely replies. Katie, I feed them on Burns Alert and a can of Sardines every day and chicken wings, bones a couple of times a week. Jac, your so right about Hattie, she is such a doll and Charlie you are spot on ;D Barbara, super alert is the tip of the iceburg ;D Rachael, I can see his ribs when he is standing, is this OK? But we love them all the same. Helen xx
Re: Catching Rays!! Being able to see ribs while he's standing may mean he's a bit on the lean side. But talk to anyone who competes in Agility and they'd say he's perfect If he is energetic, alert and looks fit, then he's probably just fine.
Re: Catching Rays!! Riley has no spare on him and sometimes I can see his ribs or feel his backbone which should really be covered but I struggle to get any more weight on him with kibble alone, he just started leaving it. I supplement sometimes but apart from that I figure Riley's pretty happy the weight he is and don't worry (too much). It only really concerns me if he's off colour and not eating well for any reason as he's got no reserves, I just put him straight on yummy chicken and rice at times like that so he eats as well as possible,
Re: Catching Rays!! wow lovely dogs helen! Charlie is the kind of Disney-Prince looking dog that Cuillin gets a instant dog-crush on, she would be fawning at him and licking his muzzle, handsome boy, and Hattie looks gorgeous too! brodick is quite skinny, and you can see bith his and Cuillins ribs just now as they are doing a fair bit of running but I like em a bit lean too....
Re: Catching Rays!! Barbara, I struggle too with Charlie's weight but too Hattie could put weight on at the drop of a hat! so glad Charlie isn't the only rake then ;D Thanks Debsie, I think he is a handsome chap too!! Hattie needs a hair cut, but she is gorgeous inside and out Helen xx
Re: Catching Rays!! Thanks for redirecting......Hattie is a cutie pie,no wonder she has loads of fans and Charlie is so noble looking, they are both beautiful dogs.I vote for 'When Harry met Hattie!' Would be a beautiful thing! X
Re: Catching Rays!! I agree, both lovely. Although, we need more pictures of Charlie, I think... what a shiny, regal looking boy...
