After our evening walk (morning one is just short, evening one is longer - no kids!;)) all off lead, Bonny usually gets a "treat" like a Dog biscuit or a small chew but i've seen a lot of you are giving chicken wings? It obviously sounds healthier to me, so can Bonny have one as a treat? She's on Wainrights kibble usually so it would only be for a treat? :)

Absolutely! Hollie now has a leg with thigh or 2-3 wings for at least 3-4 meals a week, she loves them :)

I put hollie in her cage to eat them so she knows she is safe and no one will take it away, the first wing she swallowed whole!!!!

    Hope bonny enjoys :)

We seem to have developed wings into a post-swim treat :D
Lilly always insists on taking them outside, so maybe not for her if its raining ;)

    Hi
We're trying to broaden treats etc, are the wings given whole and raw sorry to sound naïve but Tom's our first dog, also is it ok to give to a seven month old. Again showing naivety do they chomp up bones is there any choking risk? Thanks

We started Willow on raw chicken wings at about 9 or 10 weeks, so seven months is no issue!! She chomps them up to break all the bones, but keeps it intact (ie the flesh doesn't get broken) and then swallows the whole thing. She has twice regurgitated it a few hours later and had a second "go" at crunching it up, but that's perfectly normal and not something to worry about. Hope that helps.

Were giving Gibson chicken legs and thighs after his walks and he loves them. He's only 3 and a half months old and has no problems with them.

I was reading about salmonella recently - was it on here, or was it something human I was reading?? - I forget.
Anyway, salmonella is pretty common in dog poop apparently - unlike in humans it passes straight through without causing any adverse effects.
Obviously dog guts are designed to take that kind of insult without any worries.
Just us measley humans that get sick with it.

    Aha! Yes indeed.
My human and doggy reading is all conglobulating into one amorphous mass at the moment!
    Information overload. ....
    Thank you.
