Homer stole four chocolate brownies off the kitchen table this afternoon!

We asked our friend who made the brownies for the recipe and deduce that he's had 20g 79% cocoa powder and 15g 70% dark chocolate.

Websites suggest 3%hydrogen peroxide which I don't have so I'm making Homer drink lots of water hoping it might all come out, hopefully not in the new living room carpet!

    What next!

I don't think water will help, I could be wrong. I would phone the vet and ask for advice, you might find the amount of chocolate is fine, but on the other hand it isn't. It will put your mind at rest.

I've copied and pasted below advice from @Lochan (a vet) about safe limits for chocolate. I don't know how to link to the original post, but you can find it with a search. Hope this helps.

The VPIS have helpfully equated this theobromine dose to grammes of chocolate eaten and it pans out that veterinary treatment is likely to be required if they eat dark chocolate at doses over 3.5g per kg bodyweight, and milk chocolate doses over 14g chocolate per kg bodyweight. One of mine (Lochan) last year ate 600g of dark chocolate - some 24g/kg - and had pretty severe signs of poisoning for which urgent care was required.

I think Cocoa powder is very high on the BAD list, along with plain chocolate.

I would DEFINITELY discuss this with your vet, tonight, DON'T wait.
If he/she says its fine, then good, but the higher the Cocoa solids, the worse the outcome could be.

According to the recipe and calculating the amount of theobromine he has had less than would cause concern. Phoned my brother in law who is a vet and he was confident Homer would be OK. H is his normal self.

    Just giving us another worry.

Based on a conversation with our vet years ago, I don't think a pan of brownies are likely to be a problem, unless you pup is extra sensitive to chocolate. Our vet said that it would take 5 or so lbs of dark chocolate to cause significant problems with our (old) 80# lab. She ate a 17 oz dark chocolate bar. We did give her hydrogen peroxide, and she did throw up, but he felt she would have been fine regardless.
