Dexter has a gunky left eye that has developed today ,I've bathed it about 4 times with cooled boiled water....doing my usual once over inspection ,his left ear was dirty too.Ive just sat down to catch up on the forum with him lying next to me and he's got a massive drip on the end of his nose ......could he have a cold?his nose has NEVER dripped....he's himself I'm every other way...no coughing or sneezing? I'm going to the vets tomorrow anyway because of the sticky eye but just wondered what you thought x
Re: Common Cold? Thanks Helen,he's not right,Chris has just brought him in from his bedtime leg stretch and he had a wee and SAT DOWN....unheard of :-\ .....he then came running into our bedroom (Dexter, not Chris ;D) on a week night....I could have put money on Chris bringing him up tonight because he's 'poorly' ( hope he's not really :'()once Dexter is settled nicely on our bed ,head on me...Chris knows it's safe to appear and say , 'I couldn't stop him......' Yeah right....heard it all before ! Nite folks,I'm not fully caught up but I'll be around tomorrow x
Re: Common Cold? Oh poor love , for now, try bathing the eye with a cooled used tea bag , its supposed to be really soothing , hope all goes well tomorrow xx
Re: Common Cold? Hope Dex is ok... My OH refuses to sleep without Charlie now...I often retreat to the dog hair free sheets of the spare room, trying not to feel unloved! ;D ;D ;D
Re: Common Cold? Many dogs in this area have had a cold recently, runny noses, the odd one will have a sneeze once a day. I think it is a very mild form of kennel cough. Both mine have had runny noses, but are fine in themselves. Hope Dexter is OK.
Re: Common Cold? Thanks everyone,I've got an appointment later. He was a bit gunky this morning and scratched a few times in the night ( Chris feels totally justified now bringing him up on a school night : )I bathed it like you said Kate ....he was quite happy having his walk, full of beans and was well behaved having his morning coffee Maybe he's picked something up at daycare this week?ill let you know x
Re: Common Cold? Just a minute - am I reading this right?? You let Dexter sleep in your bed???? And what about Julie's OH, he lets Charlie sleep in the bed too??? Is nothing sacred????? : Sounds like my OH is the only one holding out against dogs in the bed now. Except weekend mornings, she's allowed up then. Thin end of the wedge...

Re: Common Cold? How exactly does letting poppy up on weekend mornings constitute "holding out" lmao!!!!! Hope Dex is feeling better xxx
Karen, old news ,where've you been? ;D ;D ;D Just modifying to say he's ON not IN Karen....but I'm splitting hairs really aren't I ;D AND despite me losing the battle, allegedly only at WEEKENDS!!!x I must admit I was surprised by Charlie being on there ....I thought he was one of the last dogs standing! ;D....but no,he's made it! Dex is grand, thankyou,he's got conjunctivitis and a sticky left ear so we have eye drops and ear washes to do...luckily neither of these are a drama....just a shame he missed a right good romp around with my friend and her neighbour and 3 GRs out at the lakes this morning.....maybe ok for the weekend, let's see x
in the interests of my white cotton bedding, I held out...but once the decline started (upstairs as a "special" when he was poorly) it was remarkably rapid - indeed, he has never slept downstairs again.
Re: Common Cold? You lot are weak! (I have a horrible premonition that may come back to slap me in the face if/when we de-crate Willow!) Glad to hear Dexter doesn't have anything serious, but conjunctivitis can be very uncomfortable, so big squishy hugs for him.
Re: Common Cold? That's very good news that Dexter 'only' has conjunctivitis and a gunky ear! Hope he's fully recovered by the weekend When OH is away (like now), I sleep in the guest room and share my bed with Poppy. She loves it. But she is a bit in awe of OH and I don't think she would actually like to sleep in the same bed as him - she senses his disapproval and it makes her uncomfortable! So when he's home she happily sleeps in her own bed. Except on Saturday and Sunday..
Re: Common Cold? Poor Riley is still firmly downstairs however he has started climbing on the sofa ostensibly to escape the crocopup (yeah right!) I love my cuddles though ;D
