I have today sent a donation of £100 to Pets As Therapy the charity chosen by our overall winner Chloe, and a donation of £50 to Prevent Unwanted Pets, the charity chosen by our mobile photo winner Lynne. I have also emailed both charities to let them know what the donation is all about.

Pets As Therapy provides therapeutic visits for people in need by volunteers and their pets. Prevent unwanted pets provides free neutering for the pets of owners on low incomes.

I’ll let you know if they reply, but I’m sure they will be pleased, so well done Chloe and Lynne, both very worthwhile causes.

    Feedback

That pretty much wraps up our first photo contest and I do hope you have all enjoyed it. Thanks to everyone who took part, or voted, and to our great team of moderators for tackling the difficult task of nominating the shortlists.

We’ll definitely be doing it again in the future so do give us your feedback and suggestions. Tell us what you liked about it, and how you think it could have been improved. Ideas for themes or other kinds of competition are also very welcome.

I was so impressed by the photos. Looking toward to the next comp :)

One variation might be that the photo has to be taken within the open period of the competition (photos all have a digital date stamp....I think).

Eligible photos could also submitted by email to Pippa or a moderator and put anonymously in a thread.

Everyone could vote on all pics, rather than mods picking a short list.

Anyway, just a few ideas :) I thought it went really well and was fun!

The best picture of more than one forum dog.

People outside the UK are allowed "virtual teams" where near identical photos are taken at the same time.

:D Where did that one come from Julie?
My mind is still trying to compute that.

On a previous forum we ran a few photo competitions, we found that when the forum got very popular, some people joined just to enter the photo competitions, we did end up with some rather professional looking photos as a result.
One of the rules evolved as a result that entries had to be from posters who had been members for a certain length of time or 20 posts. :)

Well...I was thinking Obi, Dex, and Simba could do identical poses in a virtual meet up! It'll work! ;D ;D ;D

Ok, I have lots of ideas. Sometimes not all are good ones! ;D

I guess you can just make up the rules for each competition. Ideas vary, so rules can too. I felt a bit left out not having my puppy yet but fair doos, I couldn't go out and borrow one! I don't know how you can cater for everyone and the answer is, you can't. I think it will be fair overall because the site strives for that. I assume that moderators do a secret squirrel and I think that's good; so, I think moderators should discuss rules with Pippa for each competition and it will be ok. I loved all of the pictures, so thumbs up :)
