Jacqui mentioned these on another thread. I ordered one for megs from zooplus, they're half price at moment. Well it arrived today and the first thing that struck me was the weight. Blimey, it's heavy, but megs loved it. In ordinary temperatures you don't have to do anything, but when it gets really hot, you need to put it into cool place. I'll probably chuck it in freezer for few minutes. It's not very hot here today and when you touch it it really does feel cold. When meg got up from it, I touched her side and it was cool. It's a good size too.

I got it because meg does worry me (I'm a real worry guts where she's concerned :)), she pants a lot when it's hot and because of the cushings so I'm keeping my fingers crossed this will help if and when we get hot weather.

Think I might get one of those maybe next year though. Benson does look uncomfortable when it gets warm, just a bit worried he may chew it.

I think they are a very good idea. ;D

I wish I'd found them for my old lab. As he got older the heat seemed to bother him more and I hate hearing/seeing them panting heavy because they can't get cool. :-\

Don't know what they're made of but it is really heavy. It feels like some sort of gel with a thick waterproof like covering. Good thing is meg seems to like it.

Think we will have to get one of those! Thanks for the zooplus tip.

Our lad is only 12 weeks so still little (ish) and we've been putting the snugglesafe in the freezer - not long enough to freeze it, just make it very cold - he loves it, which is great as he never liked it the way it was intended.

I'd say don't put it in for too long though,I left mine in for about an hour and all the gel froze...my friend said that might make the contents deteriorate?....I pop mine in Chris's beer fridge now ;D....sometimes I forget to put the beer back in ;D ...so cool dog, disgruntled Hubby! ;D

Hi Angela, thanks for that. I did put it in freezer this afternoon and then waited to see how long it would take to get really cool. Don't laugh but I had visions of it exploding :) :) It took about half an hour and good news is it didn't explode. :) It's got really warm here this afternoon, stupid weather because yesterday it was really cool.
