Read in the paper this morning about a dog being poisoned at Crufts and it died as a result. Some truly awful people around. Very disheartening.
Re: Crufts - dog poisoner If true then it is abhorrent but toxicology results are not yet confirmed. Roger
Re: Crufts - dog poisoner I saw this as an item on the news last night and couldn't believe what I saw and heard. Absolutely mind-blowingly awful. How could anyone do anything so evil, my thoughts are with his devastated owner.
Re: Crufts - dog poisoner I also heard this news but at the same time heard toxicology results where not yet back so this would still yet to be confirmed. Whatever the cause a terribly sad time for the owners
Re: Crufts - dog poisoner I don't fully understand what they're saying. The toxicology results aren't back but the autopsy showed he had been fed chunks of beef laced with poison? So, I assume the toxicology is just a case of identifying what this "poison" is? Either way, they've lost a lovely dog that appears to have been a pet and family member, not just a commodity. He was also used as a Pets As Therapy dog. Very sad.
Re: Crufts - dog poisoner It was in the news in Australia too. Very sad, whatever the cause turns out to be.
Re: Crufts - dog poisoner Tragic,my parents are really upset ,it was the same breed as their boy Derry :'( poor owners x
Re: Crufts - dog poisoner So sad - and shocking as it sounds from the reports to have been deliberate.
Re: Crufts - dog poisoner Latest reports suggest that another 2 dogs may be affected. Although a toxicology report is awaited on the actual poison, it would seem to be a deliberate act as the autopsy found 3 lumps of beef in the stomach with some sort of pellet inside them. Police are apparently going to start reviewing the CCTV footage to see if they can spot anything suspicious.
Re: Crufts - dog poisoner The more of what I hear people are capable of, the more I love dogs. Poor boy, and poor family grieving, I can't even think about it. So sad.

Re: Crufts - dog poisoner When they identify the [censored] who did this they should be fed the same poison and then given photos of this poor dog so that they can think about how it died while they draw their last breath! Ever the moderate
Re: Crufts - dog poisoner Apparently several other dogs have become ill since attending crufts also, but they are different breeds and as far as I know none of them have died. We were talking about this in work today and the thing I can't understand is this: the dog died about 26hrs after leaving crufts and an autopsy was performed straight away where they found chunks of beef in his stomach which they believe contained the poison. Doesn't food pass through a dogs system quicker than that? So for him to have food in his stomach wouldn't it have had to be given within like 12hrs? Also I know they haven't had the toxicology report back yet so cannot identify what killed the dog but they beleive it was a slow acting poison (or maybe several) well...wouldn't the dog have shown symptoms of being ill before it died from the poison, even if it took a long time to actually kill him? I mean...the dog didn't just drop down dead all of a sudden. I understand the vet was en route to the dog when it did die, but to have no symptoms for 24hrs and then die in the time it took for them to call a vet and the vet to arrive seems a bit odd.... Am I thinking over this too much? I'm just a bit perplexed by it...
Re: Crufts - dog poisoner Unclebob, did you have a previous existence, dare I suggest Cromwell ;D ;D ;D Sorry to make light of a terrible subject but Unclebob doesn't hold back and probably expresses a bit of what we all feel. :-X
