A couple videos of me working with Captain. There has not been very much work with performing to the obedience ring competition standards, but i am increasing the time we spend working toward those standards. I intend to finish the current enrollment in obedience training (general behavior obedience, not competition obedience) at the end of October and that should result in a Canine Good Citizen award. That's when i intend to shift focus to strongly develop competition obedience proficiency. Share your thoughts! good, bad, anything you have.

If you're interested in competition obedience, have you seen the Denize Fenzi Team Titles page? https://fenziteamtitles.com/ To enter for each level you have to register and pay, but you can view all the level descriptions and sample videos for free and I think it's a good resource as it builds the skills for competition in a methodical way. I've had dogs all my life but my current dog, Molly, is the first that I've done competitive obedience with, and I didn't really find the best ways until a couple of years ago. So (apologies if you already know this) can I say to you - PIVOTS. These are really the foundation for great heelwork and you could start your pup now on putting his feet up on a bowl, book, block of wood etc and moving his back feet. This Kikopup video shows what I mean (although she is talking about trick training, it equally applies to heelwork.)
I love this sort of training. I did step one with Maggie, this will be challenging as she walks around things as opposed to 0ver. She is just able to walk on a metal plate that is across half a sidewalk. The biggest problem I have is Maggie follows my eyes and if I look down she lays down. I need to find a way to undo this. She loved doing something new, she is a thinker for sure! Thanks for sharing.
