With a few days off work, we decided whatever the weather, today we would do a day trip to the nearest beach to us. Unfortunately, living in the Midlands (smack in the middle of the country) this involves at least a two hour drive if the traffic is not too bad. So set out early this morning and travelled to Hunstanton. So glad we made the effort - Bailey had the time of his life! Sun shone all day - Bailey hit the pools and the sea with gusto! A couple of pics to share - plus one 10 mins after we got home - and there, an hour later, he still is :D

Looks like he had a great day out, glad you enjoyed yourselves. I'm in Northants at the moment, staying with my sister.

I'm looking forward to Sunday , Cassie is going to the seaside for the first time.

Hope you are enjoying being in Northants - there are lots of lovely walks around the county. Where are you going on Sunday? Wherever you go hope you have a great day :) How exciting for Cassie the first trip to the seaside :)

Yes Northants is a lovely county, my Dad was from here aswell, although my sister moved here after her marriage. I have enjoyed walks in the area over the years with various dogs.

I am going home today, Cassie will be going to the Welsh coast just north of Aberystwyth.

    Looks fabulous.
Don't you just love the feel of their silky coats after being in the sea too?
Feel so lucky to have beaches pretty close to us, dogs just love the water.
    Just love those photos :)

Thank you - we love him to pieces. I've not enjoyed a day on a windy beach so much for years! Also added bonus it was deserted when we first arrived so Bailey could be off lead, and when we had to put him back on the lead when other dogs came along it didn't cramp his style! The leg cuddle is a something that happens each night - he also lays on my legs when we go to bed - best bit of the day :)

Always great to see a doggie having fun at the beach!

What are the 'stadium seating' style things up at the back of the beach?

They are actually the steps you use to get down from the prom to the beach - but can be used as seats too - to get to part of the beach that dogs are allowed is a long walk...I needed to use them as a seat before running around the beach like a loon! I am sure they were originally built for some other reason but that's what they are used for now :)

I think they are also part of the coastal defence because the land around there is lower in places than the beach. It's a great place and fascinating. I particularly like the north beach with it's sandstone and limestone cliffs but it has a lot of mossy large stones on the beach and more difficult to walk on in places.

I had a look on the internet at other pics of that beach. The cliffs and the stones covered in green algae look amazing. Beautiful spot!

Years ago the beach in front of the cliffs I remember going on there with both my old family dog and my dad's dog in and out of the rock pools - yesterday the path is now blocked (some work is going on there) and dogs are not allowed on that part - although further along at Old Hunstanton they can go on the beach there. We walked back the other way and went on the beach between Heacham and Hunstanton - A lot of work has been done on the sea defences since we were last there (some years ago now). The beaches are still the same and actually were very clean which is really nice. The cliffs are amazing - just rather crumbling now - glad that work seems to be being done on them.
