So Bella is 11 months old now and fully toilet trained... or so I thought.... she's doing really well so I've started leaving her pen open at night (she's ok for short periods during the day as well, any longer than an hour and she stays in the pen just for now until I am fully sure all will be ok ha).

The first night was a success, she slept on the sofa most of the night and couldn't hear a peep. Last night I heard pitter patter at 3am and a weeing sound on my tiles, so I went downstairs to stand in a nice big puddle..then noticed another puddle at the other side of the hall... hmmm so back she went in her pen/ bed and nothing there this morning... she went for her usual wee and poo before bed time so I'm wondering if a) de penning her has confused her somewhat? (but why would she wee in the house?!) or maybe she's got an infection (big coincidence but will keep an eye out). She was drinking lots last night but I'm just panicking that maybe she's not really learnt toilet is for outside and it just so happens I let her out often enough?!?!? she never has accidents in her pen during the day and is left for 4 hours.............. Any thoughts???

Hmmm - this is unusual. Has she had her season yet?

I would pop her to a vet. Not holding on over night could be a sign of a UTI. So can drinking lots.

She was spayed before her first season at 6 months. Never had any issues with toileting in the night other than last night and she did eat ham bone after tea so I thought that is why she maybe drank more yesterday evening...

I think that, if it were a house training issue, she'd do it in the day too. I would get a vet check :)

Yes, vet check here too. Then if all is ok, I'd go back to crating her at night for a while, since that is presumably around 8 hours when she is on her own. I would start leaving her out of her crate during the day for longer periods, gradually extending up to the full four hours when she is on her own.

Thanks. I came back today and no accidents had occurred at any stage . She hasn't been toileting more than usual tonight either so don't think it's an infection. Think I'll keep her in her pen tonight and see what happens... if all ok I'll start to extend day times gradually like you say before nights . Thanks!
