Does anyone have any experience with negative side effects from Deramaxx? I've done an extensive search online and there are several sites & blogs about people who have had to put their dog to sleep because of the side effects. My lab who is almost 12 years old is suffering from nearly all of the side effects. He has been off the drug for about 5 days and hasn't improved, in fact he's declined further. We're going for a follow-up exam with the vet later today. I'm wondering if any has experienced negative side effects, taken their dog off the drug, and was able to recover?
Re: Deramaxx side effects Hi LabLuv. Deramaxx is a NSAID painkiller for arthritis. Not sure how you got on at the vets, but glad you are in touch with them. Side-effects from taking these can be quite serious, both in humans and in dogs. Bleeding in the stomach and problems with the kidneys are the main two problems. Hopefully being off the treatment, and seeing your vet, things will start to improve. Do let us know how you get on. jac
Re: Deramaxx side effects Labluv,I can't help,no experience I'm sorry but what did the vet say? I'm so sorry your lovely dog is poorly x
Re: Deramaxx side effects So sorry to read about your poorly dog and hoping for a good outcome for him . I had a terrier who took Metacam for some time , this is another NSAID , he also suffered side effects quite badly, but once off the drug, he did improve , hoping you will have the same result x
Re: Deramaxx side effects My almost 14 year old Winnie has been on amd off Deramaxx for about 2 years. It has helped her with mobility but I have had to take her off due to intestinal distress. She has always rebounded back, and hopefully you will find the same with yours. I cut her pills to one fourth size and if she is movely poorly I occasionally will give her one. Hoping all will be well for you and your pup,
