    My poor yellow fellow.....

He's had a miserable 48 hours after skinning a pad on each front paw....I took him to the dog park and it's an Astro turf surface .....usually I'm really on him so he doesn't go totally mad charging round. This time there were only 3 dogs there,2 springers and a collie, they were all evenly matched and he was having the best time.I didn't realize straight away ...it was when we got home and he was limping when I took him across the road for a wee.....I nearly died I thought I'd let him burn his pads on the road ......anyway when I calmed down and looked properly I knew that wasn't the case....
Yesterday he hated the boots...he wouldn't go to the toilet all day ....he held a wee for 10 hours and he didn't poo until this morning ...then it was a very cautious affair! The boots are only on when we go outside and do a leg stretch...yesterday I was putting the cream on that the vet gave me,covering them with gauze and putting a little dog sock on .The cream was very greasy and the wounds just looked wet ...so last night I just bathed it with salt water and left everything off and this morning they are lovely and dry.....I feel so much better for him as of course timing is rubbish....I travel to the UK tomorrow ( yep was nearly changing my flight of course )
Anyway he's bit more himself today and when I read about what some other Forum dogs are going through this is more about news than trouble!
    Bye for now x

Oh dear, what a stress. Glad he's recovering and his pads are drying up.

We've had a run of foot problems lately, haven't we!

I would never have thought Astro turf would have done that, poor Dexter, glad it is getting better as you would be worried being far away. How long are you in the UK?

Chris has skinned a knee a couple of times on astronturf when he's been playing football and it's been quite nasty ,think it must have been his fast stops and spins!
Just in the UK for a week Stacia...Mum is 70 next weekend...Chris will be back on Tuesday so he's only being minded for 4 days without one of us....

Poor boy. He doesn't look too sad, getting used to them by photo time?

I used Back on Track ceramic heat bandages on Oban for a while and they quickly lost their velcro closures since he ripped them off the second I didn't watch. Do you have to be careful about that? I imagine the booties are not cheap and you don't want to lose them.

I hate AstroTurf, particularly for dogs. Poor Dexter, hope his paws are back to normal soon. Bigs snuffles from Mrs Pops to Mr Pops (yeah, ok, we're a bit doggie OCD) ;)

Aww poor Dex! Penny did something similar a couple of months ago and it took a while to heal. I bathed her foot with diluted hibiscrub to keep it clean and just let it air dry. She had to have a cone on though as she kept licking it!
