Re: Do dogs feel shame/guilt? I always find it sad to watch clips of dogs showing fear and offering appeasing gestures in this way. No matter how softly the owners are speaking in the video, it appears to me, that their dogs are expecting to be punished. I appreciate that some dogs find even the slightest disapproval quite punishing. But it makes uncomfortable viewing for me. Here is my take on the subject in an article I wrote last summer
