Minnesota, USA went from freezing cold weather to 80 degrees in a month this spring. Dogs are not acclimated to warmer weather yet so I pulled out the tub and filled with a few inches of water for them to drink or play in or whatever. Zeke, 18 months, loves to play fetch and does not quit till you make him. He was getting hot so I put him in the tub of water. He splashed and drank and rolled in it for about 15 minutes. Then he stood up, shook, and peed in the water.

So is this a boy only thing or do girls do this too?

Yep, Ella does this. She often likes to wee in her paddling pool.

Axel did as a puppy all the time, not anymore. But he will pee in the lake while swimming!

On one of our regular walks, we pass a muddy pool that all the dogs wade around in and drink from. Snowie splashes around in this pool and drinks from it. And then usually wees in it before getting out. I’m sure it’s marking. Pretty revolting for the next dog!!

Willow and Luna (girls) wee in water. Shadow (boy) doesn't.

Lilly hasn't to my knowledge deliberately wee'd in water but she does, very inconveniently, like to poo in the shallows at the beach

Molly often wees in puddles. A couple of weeks ago another dog owner saw and was really horrified - ‘What if my dog had drunk it?’. Um, it was a muddy puddle.

Yes - Tatze loves to pee in the reservoir, it’s the first thing she does when we get there.

Oooh no. Molly is very particular about where she pees, she has regular places and if we're out somewhere new, she takes a long time to 'find the spot' before she goes. Is no one else's girl like this?

Belle liked to poo where the waves lap the shore - it was comical watching me try to pick it up before it dispersed!

Harley will only wee on mud or grass, she will hold it in until we find some!

    :cwl: that's so funny !

Cass has been known to wee in water, and other dogs of either gender I've had have done so.
@FayRose , come to think of it I think Cass does have favourite wee spots. And very often doesn't wee if I make a wee stop when we are travelling, so perhaps she is like Mollie in that regard.

Yes! I was just thinking that my son did this too. Zeke the choco is so much like my son.... Sweet and stubborn and always looking for food.

So girl dogs do this too, Thanks for clearing that up.

I’m in MN as well and ordered a pool - she’s 5 months and it’s going to be hot! I never considered that she may pee in it!
