This weekend 2 dogs died from some sort of poisoning on knighton park in Leicester a third is very unwell at a vets. I'm not on FB so don't know too much yet. Just if anyones out there going to This park maybe change your plans until what has happened becomes clear
That's just awful , and worrying for anyone walking dogs there , I just hope it wasn't intentional . Poor dogs , I hope the poorly one makes it x
Devastated, retired guide dog brood bitch Fudge, one if Rorys admirers has died. just seen her owner she gave rory a hug. A Doberman has died and Bailey a friends dog is ill. Whatever it is it killed them quick. Fudge went to the vets who thought she seemed dehydrated but with no temprature she went home and collapsed and died within 3 hours. Horrible way to loose such nice dogs. I cried when they told me about Fudge I've known her all her life she was a sweety. Guide dogs may do a pm.
Me too but the one good thing is the hot weather had kept alot of dogs off the park. I told Fudges owner to come round for Labrador cuddles anytime she likes.
That's awful. It has happened at parks here a couple of times...once since having Quinn. It terrifies me that people purposely leave poison for pets in parks. It's the main reason I obsessively taught Quinn the leave it cue, before she even knew many other cues! Do they think it was intentional?
Just awful, I am so sorry for these poor dogs and heartbroken owners @SwampDonkey, truly sorry Exactly why I trained a good 'leave it' too. You never know what a dog can pick up and eat that could kill them so all the better if you can get there first with your cue. I train 'leave it' during walks through sheep poo fields etc. to reinforce it. It really could help in an emergency. I feel one of the most important cues you can teach your dog. xx
This is appalling and tragic, I am so sorry for the dogs and the pain of the loss for the owners. Is this deliberate poisoning?
Luckily i walk somewhere different at weekends and this is when the last dog got ill. I won't be going near that park for a while. Lots of lead walking and street walks. The training will do Rory good while keeping him safe as possible. I think we'll do some exploring
I didn't realise it was that close to you @SwampDonkey, very worrying. I took my courage in both hands yesterday and walked where there had been a case of Alabama Foot Rot a few months ago. It was very dry and so many people have walked there with no further problems. My young dog found the only mud on the common an old golfing 'pit' - now I worry
These cases of people targeting animals are so worrying, not just for the pets but because this behaviour usually leads to harm towards humans (I'm sure @Harley Quinn has come across a few animal abusers in her line of work). Fears are heightened in Hamilton atm due to some psycho lacing tennis balls with razor blades at a popular dog-walking park. And some degenerate is going around Invercargill (famously described by Keith Richards as "the arsehole of the world"...he wasn't wrong) shooting and maiming dogs and cats. These are not the actions of a healthy mind.
