Ok so I'm kinda stuck on what to do next with house training. My 4 month old has pretty much got on board with a regular schedule now and is becoming pretty reliable (Yaay!!) He pees on command and has never went potty in his crate. I let him out of his gated area every day when I can keep an eye on him and he is getting used to being loose around the house. However, since I've trained him to wait to potty until I take him out, how can I transition him into going outside on his own? Right now he has learned to wait for my cue but I would like to put in a dog door so he can let himself out. I don't want to be his doorman the rest of his life. I also have the challenge of teaching him to go from the first or second floor to the basement where the dog door is. I probably have my work cut out for me but was hoping someone else has blazed this trail before and could offer some advice. Thanks!!
