Here he is modeling his new accessory......look a lot smartest than my DIY effort... http://www.flickr.com/photos/97066992@N03/9659597949/ All was going well,no breaking open since last Thursday .... Then we had a relapse last night.....not on my watch,of course!!! ;D
Re: Dog Ends It's on really secure and he's not worried it at all, still giving it a little rub with the chew deterrent spray..... : I can't see how we are ever going to get to a place where he won't keep doing it.....he seems particularly susceptible to it...anyway I've got them now so we'll get it fettled!
Re: Dog Ends I'm holding off Lynne......she said to go back if it got worse and or infected...it hasn't,it just hasn't got better she said treatment for bandaging a tail would be require his tail to be shaved so she could attach tape to the shaved area and then the bandage grips onto the tape....it's really only the area the size of half a finger nail...so im trying to 'manage' it myself rather than put him through that.it just splashes so much blood everywhere.im bathing it every day and applying the balm so it's clean and not infected,he is really good not bothering with it...he just wags so hard and so fast............I've got a massive bruise on my leg...my sister said how did you do that....I told her it was a waggiest tail injury ;D....Dexter says can he share your Jasper's rosette....although I think he would have placed in the Lethalist Wag section! ;D
Re: Dog Ends I really hope it heals up soon.... Dexter, just keep that tail still for a bit, matey!!!
Re: Dog Ends I hope that holds and that Dexter's tail is better soon! I was wondering how wolves' and foxes' tails heal in the wild... and then I remembered they don't really wag their tails much...
Re: Dog Ends Plus they have much fluffier tails (more cushioning). But, yeah, helps to not wag in the first place
Re: Dog Ends oh i am sure dexter would have had the red rosette 1 st are red to match his red tail .......awh joking apart i hope he is well soon x
Re: Dog Ends Bad news....big break of the tail tip this afternoon ......blood spatter across my cheek it flew so high :'( :'( :'( ...luckily I had a vet appointment this afternoon for ears....will keep the update of that on the other thread...nothing serious. The Vet examined his tail and said on a positive it is still live tissue as it bleeds ....She was happy with the care I've been giving it because it hasn't got infected but she was mostly curious to understand why it's happening.....she thinks his tail tip is particularly thin...as he has had 3 episodes of this already she thinks it is particularly brittle...possibly through scarring( even though its such a small area) .Hes going to have a quiet time the next 7 days, his walks will all be on the lead in our park and any visitors that call into see him have been asked to text his sitter first so she can make sure she can control the bashing.....I'm back to see her Saturday 14 th( snap Obi)she didn't actually say it but she intimated he might be losing the end of it as a solution :'( :'( :'( to take it back to where the thicker, more supple tissue is.......sad to be leaving him although I know he is in excellent hands and gutted the effort we've put in to getting it right hasn't moved us on from here .....least its not infected!
Re: Dog Ends sorry to hear this angela,....i am sure the vet will do what is best for him......poor poor dexter
Re: Dog Ends Oh no Angela, just read this how awful!!! :'( Do hope things turn out ok. Hopefully the calm time with lead walks only will mean his tail has a chance to heal... What a worry for you.
Re: Dog Ends Hopefully it'll all come right but I'm sure his wag will be unaffectedly joyful regardless of the outcome. Healing vibes from here too x
