Hi All, I have chosen a new super premium grain free kibble produced in Portugal for Gaston. I would like your opinion on it (considering the ingredients). I don't find it on dog food reviews even though it is being exported to your countries (UK, Spain, Italy, ..etc). From what I have gathered online, I think it looks like a good choice. Would appreciate your views too. Thanks. https://www.gleebirmingham.com/news...axi-pet-food-manufacturer-is-debuting-at-glee website : http://www.mediterraneum.pt/en Composition Poultry fresh meat (30%), dried poultry protein, sweet potato, fresh egg (7%), poultry fat, peas, hydrolysed poultry proteins, manioc, beet pulp (2%), dried sardine protein, minerals, olive oil, DHA, natural antioxidants (rosemary, blackcurrant, pomegranate), dried apple, dried carrot, dried tomato, yeasts (source of MOS 500 mg/kg), Yucca schidigera (250 mg/kg). Technical Datasheet for the puppy kibble (for Gaston) can be found here :http://www.petmaxi.pt/products/happyone-mediterraneum/dog/puppy Thanks so much.
My concern would be around the Poultry Fresh Meat and dried Poultry protein for the reasons here https://www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk/dog-food-ingredients/0075/poultry I'm also aware that you might not have as much choice as available to us in the UK, so It's more something to be aware of
Thanks very much @Jojo83. That is really interesting, I would think always that poultry would be chicken for the most part, turkey, well, white meat. What else could we be considering then ? I could always ask the manufacturer what exact poulty goes in there, might be a good idea, as you mention it. We have great choice, more than enough so as to be confused much like everyone else, we can just order online if not buy available in the physical shops, it's fine. I settled for this kibble as I really like the idea of fresh produce from farms in Portugal and the mediterranean diet characteristic, it just comes across as homey and natural, on a smaller scale vs. the big scale fat corporate industries.
I know what you mean. My dog food is produced by a small company using local produce. The problem when a producer uses 'poultry meat it could be chicken, turkey or duck or any combination of them; which then means that what is in one bag you buy isn't necessarily the same in the next. It is better if possible to use food which clearly identify the meat protein used.
Hi Everyone, I have just got the reply to what poultry the kibble producer uses, it is, and I quote "chicken and/or turkey".
