I think 'one small pet' is intended to give the owners a getout clause in case someone turns up with a Great Dane/Shetland Pony cross.
My friend has a Great Dane and she struggles to find places that allow him. It's really funny because after having them both I can safely say he's much less bother than Stanley. Doesn't roll in mud, always calm and chilled and as long as he's got somewhere to sit he chills for about 23 hours a day
I may have recommended this place before - the other side of Inverness near Tain, overlooking the Dornoch Firth. Very close to Balblair Distillery. And of course the much more commercial Glenmorangie. https://www.homeaway.co.uk/p836772 The bedrooms etc are fairly "old house" basic, but the location up a long track, a secure garden (if your dog doesn't jump 3ft fences) along with the fabulous sitting/dining room was a real winner for us. Nowhere on your doorstep for eating out but we mostly self-cater so suited us. I can highly recommend it.
Goodness! There was a bit of logging going up on that hill but nothing rip-roaringly awful! Looked pretty like when we were there to my eye!
