    Hi all,

Bob is still on crate rest because of his leg injury. It occurred to me that our slippery floor will not be helping one little bit. He's always skidding around especially when he comes in and it's wet outside. We did some research and apparently dog socks may be the way forwards. They have little grippy bits of rubber on the soles. Has anyone used them before? Are they OK to use? Safe? Just wondered what the forum thoughts were!

    Thank you,
    Lou

I've only used rubber boots for injuries and my dog wasn't a fan but then I'd done no work with him before injury to get him used to them. They stayed on well though :)

It might be cheaper to get children's socks that have little grippy rubbery bumps on the soles. I've heard of people using them.

I have seen a video of something similar, little socks with grips on the sole, the dogs appeared to be running around with ease and not slipping. Or you could try a paw wax.

I tried dog socks on my Cavalier when he was getting very old (15) and unsteady on his pins. He simply ripped them off!

This is my worry Boogie ! Mind you Bob is a pretty tolerant sort of pooch. I'm sure if he started on them a sharp LEAVE IT may work. But you never know! Paw Wax sounds interesting.. .may do a bit of googling! Thanks!

We used dog socks with a grippy sole for our old Labrador. We had to tape them at the top, otherwise they fall down. They also turn around on the foot and the rubbery bit doesn't want to stay on the bottom. In the end we went with boots, which were much better (but can't be left on all the time). Mats on the slippery floors are probably the best thing though and that's what I'd use next time I had a wobbly or sliding doggie.
