I’d be interested to hear what the course you completed consisted of. Am I right in thinking it’s rally? Or like rally in that you have ‘stations’ for particular movements / positions.

We competed in a Rally Obedience Trial. Ella has her Rally Novice title (she has RN after her name on her registration certificate) so we are currently trying to get three passes in Rally Advanced.

For Rally Advanced, there must be between 12 and 17 stations in the ring. Novice is on lead but everything after is off lead. If/when you pass Advanced, there are additional stations for Excellent and Masters. The pass mark also increases and the number of passes to gain your title increases. Here are some examples of Novice and Advanced stations:

The judges can set up quite tricky courses. One example from Sunday was "send over jump" followed by "about u turn" so you're heading back to the jump. They then put a "left turn" immediately in front of the jump so you had to heel your dog all the way back up to the jump before turning left! If the dog jumped back over the jump, NQ (you're out! Fail!)

Thank you - it’s so interesting to hear about what you’re doing. The figure of eight with distractions looks very challenging! And I’m impressed that you’re doing it all off-lead.
The signs look basically the same as Rally in the UK, but here there are 6 levels and levels 1 and 2 are on lead. I think you have to get 3 qualifying scores to move up a level. I’ve never actually seen a competition in real-life, only videos, as none are held anywhere near me.
