So barley has turned into a depressed old man again :(, he was doing so well and now the past week he has turned around again, he is off his food, and he just looks generally down, he has also started itching again , we had got ontop of it using piriton but now is has stopped working (again), he is on 2 tablets 3 times a day, his food has not changed, no new treats. The only new thing is his joint stuff but that was introduced after he started being a depressed old man.

I think that it is either his hips hurting him or his anal glands again, but i think that it is more likely to be his hips, as he is wanting to stay in bed for longer and his sits have gone funny again, and this is great timing as he has his silver good citizons test tommorow.

I think that a trip to the vets is in order but trying to convince dad that he need to see the vet is like well almost near impossible

Poor man. Maybe he is feeling a little creaky.

I hope that things go well tomorrow. Then lots of treats for both of you afterwards :)

Sounds like he is suffering some discomfort. I hope everything goes well for you, and that you can get to the bottom of what ever is bothering him!!

Re: Down in the dumps again

Well he ate his breakfast this morning, so he could be feeling a bit better but then he did have half the normal amount so that he should be hungry for tonight so that he would wants to work. We have got some pack of royal canin energy treats to give him a couple of hours before his test so that he should fingers crossed have perked up by then, he had double his normal dose of joint stuff last night, we are looking at ordering some devils root claw for him as that is an antimflamatory and is a lot cheaper than the stuff that we would get from the vet.

He had a through check over last night, his paws are a little sore and his belly is sore as well from all his chewing, his claws are all over the place some cut short others really long and some partly cut but not to the length that they should be, we missed our oportunity to have them done when he has his grass seed in his paw the other month as he really hates having his claws cut, and he gets nasty about it aswell, last time we done tham at home he had to be muzzled and my dad and brother had to pin him on the floor whilst i cut his claws and even then it is a struggle, He is such a big baby ::).

He has got a nice mix of treats ready for tonight, sausage, liver cake, apple and cinamon treats, cheese, ham and any other tasty morsals i can find when i get home tonight. he is having a thourgh grooming tonight, he desperatly needs a wash as his coat is horrible at the moment but a good brush and groom should do for now.

I have been revising my questions so they should be no problem, we practised our stays last night and he managed a 3 1/2 minute one which is good for him as at home he gets bored doing stays and gets up and walks off, we checked with the trainer last week and he is allowed to stand at the curbs for his road walk instead of sitting at every curb we get to so that saves his hips from extra effort.

I am getting quite nervous as everything is going wrong with him at the worst time, we will just have to see how he does, if he fails we will just have to try again and hope that he is feeling better

Fingers crossed for you both here :) I'm sure you'll both do your best under the circumstances.

If it doesn't go according to plan you still get to take home a wonderful and very handsome dog :)
