We have a 6 month old pup who loves to come with us wherever we go. We also have a couple of soft top and rather noisy (vintage) cars. Hew has become used to them moving around but we would like to take him in the cars for touring.

Does he need ear and eye protection?

Hi and welcome to the forum. I'm sorry, I can't help you with an answer, but I do have a fabulous image of your puppy in a Biggles helmet and goggles...

Don't know about his ears but certainly protection for his eyes. I have been told you should not allow your dog to put his head outside the car window because of debris that flies around can get in his eyes....but dont know about ears!

Doggles are cool but have to fit really well or they could contact the eye area (if they slide). Also, dogs don't love them (we have a pair). Something you could try but you'll need to do a lot of training to get him to tolerate them.

I think the best thing is just to keep his head inside the body of the car.

If the car is so noisy that you need ear protection then get some for your dog too (ear plugs they sell for horses would work). But if it's ok for you then it'll be ok for your dog.

    Happy motoring :)

Thank you for all your help. Its interesting to hear that if a noise is ok for a human then it is ok for a dog. I thought dogs had much more sensitive hearing than humans?
