For some reason, cats our pooing loads in our garden at the mo and Willow thinks this is brilliant because she loves cat poo ! (dirty animal) Her poo's seem a bit looser than normal at the mo (not watery just runny) could this be from the poo! I tell her off for eating it, but she doesnt really care.
Re: Eating cat poo = runny poo? Yep. Cat poo is like manner from heaven to most dogs, as it's still packed with protein and other nutrients. Trouble is, it's often a bit rich for dogs tums, so they end up a bit loose. Their tums do seem to harden up to it in the end though. I don't get random cats in my garden (5 dogs and 5 cats of my own see to that) but my own cats do have their own favourite bush to poo under, which I poo pick regularly. I generally fence this area off while I've got a puppy here, to try to dissuade the habit. Once they are more grown up and trained, they know not to touch it. Is there anyway you could fence off where these cats are going, or perhaps cover the soil with something the cats don't like going on so much (thinking slate chippings or something similar here), as being random cats, they could be harbouring worms which your pup could pick up?
Re: Eating cat poo = runny poo? I'm having a similar problem with my puppy Buddy (5 and a half months), but he likes to roll in it first! Distracting him with a treat filled Kong (or any other food snack) distracts him, but I have to offer them quickly!
Re: Eating cat poo = runny poo? Hi, Otis heads straight for where the cat poo is in my garden too, yuck. But then Otis likes most types of poo, including his own and other dogs. Im not sure if its going to work, but Im going to teach Otis the leave it, command, so that he dosent do this and also will leave other things such as food alone. I think eating all types of poo, makes them a bit loose, and the chance of worms greater too. Maggie x

Oh Lordy I've got a cat poo snaffler too...our leave it has got a lot better though.....but not 100% by any means....I think it probably does make Dexter runnier ( he's always on the soft side anyway ) I can happily report camel poo is NOT tasty! Not to my lad anyway!

It just sounds so random doesn't it! ;D and ever so helpful to the rest of the forum ;D ;D I'm dying to see the camels...I see the tracks ( I can tell they are hobbled,forelegs tied together ) but never one of the magnificent creatures in sight .....Dexter will get the shock of his life!x

Re: Eating cat poo = runny poo? Katie looooves poo! The only poo she doesn't eat is dog poo. We had to put the litter box upstairs where she is gated from because she was snacking from it. In fact, if the baby gate is left open she will immediately sense that it's open and make a beeline for the upstairs bathroom where the litter box is located. We started calling cat turds Almond Rocas, for obvious reasons. Evidently there is nothing more delicious. Katie tried licking the cat where the turds come out and the cat jumped about four feet in the air and totally flipped out. I wonder why? Besides eating poo, there is nothing more enjoyable to Katie than rolling in fox poo. She did this about two hours before we had a party last weekend:
