Albert (12 weeks) had his first short walk in a field where sheep have been and was very interested in trying to eat their poo! Does anyone have any suggestions about how to stop it and what are the consequences of eating some? Hard to avoid in most places as I live in North Wales and there are sheep everywhere. Thanks for your invaluable advice as always. Jan
Re: Eating sheep poo! It does them no harm. I avoid it if I can but don't worry otherwise. Tatze 'drinks' sloppy cow pats! Bleugh!! :
Re: Eating sheep poo! O a recent walk Holly tasted sheep, horse and rabbit poo. It had no effect on her.
Re: Eating sheep poo!
Bleugh, and I thought Maisie licking up the latest bird poo was revolting!!
It's a doggie delicacy that we will never understand lol
Re: Eating sheep poo! Difficult to enforce with a young pup, best to avoid those fields to start with. Need to train it out later if you want to work your dog, otherwise it will be grazing on it full time. Another from North Wales here, sheep everywhere LOL. Need to teach the leave it command. I don't like mine eating it, mainly they are OK but they do have a sneaky nibble when waiting for a retrieve. I am not sure if they carry parasites, worms etc
Re: Eating sheep poo! If its any comfort, Lilly loved all kinds of poop as a pup but grew out of it on the whole and reserves herself for eating fox poop and rolling in the residue.
Re: Eating sheep poo! Thanks to all for your poo stories. Aren't they delightful? I will keep him away as best I can and will start teaching the "leave" command with something tastier than poo! Well at least I hope he'll think it's better1 Jan
