Hi everyone. I hope you're all good. I was looking for some support or to hear from other people who might be in the same boat as us. If not a cuddle would do! Our 10 month old Labrador has recently been diagnosed with Medial Coronoid Disease (Elbow Dysplasia) and is scheduled for surgery to investigate and perhaps remove bone fragments. I've been trying to read as much as I can but it's a bit overwhelming. I wanted to ask people who have gone through this: where are you and your dog now? Do they ever get to do a big lovely walk? How are they doing? And for those who can't, is it safe and possible to substitute warm water swimming instead of walking if your Labrador continues to struggle with lameness long term after surgery? I'm looking for any options which might give him some exercise and fun going forward and after we've worked hard on our post surgical recovery. Anything which isn't full of impact. The possibility of him only being able to do a 15 minute walk here and there for the rest of his life is so much to take in. Thank you in advance!
