I don't know what's happened, as nothing was apparent at the time, but Ella gas hurt her leg It seems like her back left "wrist" area as she let me move the hip, "elbow" and touch the pads. She's not putting weight down on her "heel" area. It was really bad when she stood up and she even growled when I went to have a look . She did walk around for a bit and the limp was barely noticeable after a few minutes and she even let me hold an gently press the area. Not sure if that means it's soft tissue and warmed up a but after walking? Im at my parents this weekend so won't be able to get to our normal vet in the morning but I'm sure I'll be able to find a local country vet. So worried about my baby girl
Poor Ella that's miserable I hope she will be OK Emily and that you fine a country vet and manage to enjoy being with your parents over the weekend. xx
Ah, ouch, poor little girl. May be a stupid question, but are you sure she hasn't got anything stuck in/close to a pad? We had a similar incident with a spaniel years ago, thought he'd hurt his wrist area but it turned out he had a blackthorn thorn right up between his toes.
Thanks everyone, we'll get up soon (currently lying in bed - thanks for the 5.30am wake up Nathan ) and I'll see how it is. Thanks @FayRose I did have a good poke around the pad last night and couldn't detect anything but I'll certainly have another look this morning. I was able to move her paw around when we went to bed. She was quite happy for me to gently bend the joint downwards (as if making a fist) but was clearly uncomfortable if I tried to flex it the other way.
Poor lass.... Hope you can get to a vet today and shed some light on it. Hopefully some anti-inflamms and rest will do the trick. [I'm awake in Sydney. Here for Flyball. Obi has taken over the bed...].
Yep, I'm lying in this tiny slither down the side of the bed and Ella is spread out over the rest Good luck at your comp!
Why do we never take the logical step of chucking them off...? I've been lying awake for almost an hour with about 20cm of mattress and the mere suggestion of a doona. Us humans are so tolerant....
B Because we secretly love the fact that they want nothing more than to be snuggled up with us and we'd feel guilty if we kicked them off. Obi's in a strange place and Ella's got a sore leg. They need cuddles
Hope Ella is better this morning, and you manage to find a good Vet. Always a struggle in country to find a good vet (so we have found) Know what you mean off the 20cm doona... @snowbunny doona = quilt
Poor Ella, I hope that it's nothing serious and she'll be right after a weekend's rest. Haha doona. I read a series of Aussie books as a tween and they kept talking about doonas and I have no idea for the longest time what they were talking about. It's just like the Americans and their cilantro lol. In the days before quick internet access words like that remained mysteries for ages.
