Interesting if bizarre case in the USA where a number of exhibitors have filed a complaint against another exhibitor for showing an UNdocked dog.
Re: Exhibitors challenged for showing a dog with a tail Bizarre indeed. People can be so weird and obsessive. Just had a look at the Australian standard (since this is an Aussie breed....in fact when I was a kid they still used to be called Sydney Silkies). The standard includes descriptions of both docked and undocked tails (docking is illegal for all dogs, show, pet and working, in some States).
Re: Exhibitors challenged for showing a dog with a tail Many years ago: 50 probably, my parents had a boxer and a Welsh Corgi with docked tails. Why does mankind feel they have the right to inflict their ideals on the innocent and vulnerable animal world? Such arrogance! It's nuts!
Re: Exhibitors challenged for showing a dog with a tail I have no idea why corgis or boxers were docked - though with some working gun dogs, docking is an important welfare procedure. I think we have it about right here in England, with an exemption from the ban for some working breeds.
