I was walking home with Hattie during the week when I saw a young mum with a pushchair, a child about 5 years old and walking beside her was the most beautiful Flat Coat walking off lead. When she stopped by the main road so did her dog and didn't move until she released him/her. She told my friend a few days before that her dog had never been on lead and was just so easy in all aspects. Can only dream of that level of training : x
Re: Extreme Off Lead Walking That is pretty handy when you have got a pram to push! Its nice to see something to admire and aspire to but don't forget how well you are doing with Charlie boy,Helen x
Re: Extreme Off Lead Walking It's probably a temperament thing too, not just training. If you had that Flattie, Helen, I bet it'd be doing algebra
Re: Extreme Off Lead Walking Wow, I always worry when I see people walking their dogs off lead down the road - especially as where I live it's more likely that it's because people are irresponsible and just don't care, than that their dogs are that well trained!
Re: Extreme Off Lead Walking However good the temperament and training, just one slip = dog under car. Unusual circumstances can happen to spook/excite any dog. I would never risk it.
Re: Extreme Off Lead Walking I'm with Mags. It is nice to be able to walk them off the lead, but it isn't always smart.

If you had that Flattie, Helen, I bet it'd be doing algebra [/quote] ;D ;D HIGHLY unlikely Rachael maths is not my subject ;D ;D x I totally agree, I would never walk any dog off lead in those circumstances even if I could, far too dangerous x
Re: Extreme Off Lead Walking Thats some well trained dog, but I agree with the others, not something I would ever risk
Re: Extreme Off Lead Walking Too risky for me. :-\ Those well behaved dogs always belong to other people.
