Although I've had a lab before it's a while since I had a new puppy! Can anyone advise average feeding guide for good quality kibble. He is 9 weeks, weighs 7.25kg and is currently on Arden grange puppy which is what breeder fed him. She was giving him 70g x3=210g. I have changed to feeding 4x a day, and am currently giving him 240g per day, which is within the guidelines on the bag. I would like to change to Wafcol Salmon & Potato at some point as it has no grain at all, but their guidlines recommend a daily amount of 510-620g! This would be double what I'm currently feeding and the protein levels are similar. Pup has gained 2lb in the 8 days I've had him and I do give training treats every day, but I'm concerned it might not be enough, although I'm very aware of Labs being notorious scoffers! I will make the changeover gradually but am a bit confused over the feeding guide difference. If anything I would say the Wafcol is a superior product so would have thought less not more and certainly not double! Thanks in advance for any help given.

    Re: Feeding help.

Hi Jan that is a tricky one isn't it.
It might be worth also looking at calorie values as well as just the protein. And actual values rather than percentages.
I am aftaid I have no experience of either of the foods you mention.
It does seem to be the case that most of the packages of food overestimate quantities required.
It might come down to picking the lower of the quoted quantities, doing a gradual switch, and adjusting quantities depending on the appearance of your pup as we have discussed elsewhere. Can't easly do a link on my phone to this but there was a very good post with pictures quite recently.
