I think the royal canin mother and baby is a pack of products for bitch and pups. Anyway, at 8 weeks, if you want to feed Royal Canin you should switch to a junior food - ideally, the breeder should have started this so the process is complete by 8 weeks.

Hi Julie, Thank you, it's all a minefield. Think from research I'm looking to go onto Maxi Junior so I'll give it a whirl and see how she does! thanks again

I forgot to say welcome to the forum! Let us have some pics of your pup on coming home day, we love puppy pics.

Ask your breeder what food the pup will be on - has she said mother and pup? That might be now, rather than in January. if the breeder is feeding Royal Canin, they might be feeding a junior food by January. You should stick to what the breeder is using and switch over slowly. You might also check the Royal Canin guidelines again. Off the top of my head (so might be wrong!) for a labrador you should choose junior medium or junior labrador. I think only, so do check.

Had Odin on Maxi Junior from 8 weeks to about 8 month. Then we switched to Maxi Adult. Has worked out well for us.
Our breeder had already started to feed them Maxi Junior but honestly i don't know at what age she started giving it to them(suppose something about 6 weeks).

And welcome to the Forum!! :) :)

    Hi there!
Welcome from me and Lilly - 3 and a half year old black girl.
I think food is the only think you will hear us inconsistent about! - it really is a minefield, and no real right or wrong. SOmetimes good not to think about it too hard to begin with - just go with what the breeder is doing.
Good luck with your imminent new arrival!

I'm sure they will love it

You should of course continue to feed the pup on whatever its on now and then over the next 10-14 days gradually introduce the new food into its diet.

Junior food and puppy food can be great for your young dog, some young dogs do well on adult food too from early on due to kibble size, as long as the food is good quality and sits well with your pups stomach then you will be fine.
