Apparently, so I have heard dogs, learn fifteen words thats there limit, I was trying to think of all the words Otis knows, they are, walkies, din dins, sit, in the garden, doggies, good boy, Otis, Oaty, bad dog, down, no, and thats all I can think of, thats 17. How many do your dogs know ? Maggie x
Re: fifteen words. Gosh, well Megs is deaf now and we do sign language which she's picked up quickly. When she could hear she knew sit, down, stay, come, wee wee, where's Grandad/uncle Dave. And she knew Dad/nana when they were alive. Oh and dinner, treat, walkies, kiss, give paw, roll over, up (to get into car or onto settee) and who's that, she'd then go looking. Interesting, that's 17.
Re: fifteen words. I think there was a post on here previously with the words dogs knew and it was pretty impressive.
Re: fifteen words. Yep, here it is: http://www.thelabradorforum.com/index.php?topic=4696.0 Where did the '15 words' suggestion come from, Maggie? It does sound rather conservative, and doesn't really take account of the fact that dogs don't have 'vocabulary' as such, but do have an extensive ability to distinguish tiny differences in sensory stimuli from all sources.
Re: fifteen words. Otis has already disproven the '15 word limit' theory And I'm sure he'll know three times that in a year.
