Treat him immediately for fleas/ticks, and wash and treat his blankets and bedding. Repeat the bedding treatment in several weeks. Should be ok!

I got a carpet and upholstery spray from the vets too as we had a bit of an infestation - we had been treating with frontline but it's not very effective anymore so make sure you get something better like advocate.

Thanks for the replies , My wife and have used essential oils for years so did a quick google and found oils with a citrus content or similar works well as a natural non chemical remedy .

So house now reeks of bergamont , lavender oil cedar oil or chips Lemons and a few others , So added some bergamont to a water filled sprayed bottle and went through the whole house spraying carpets and soft furnishings

I have hoovered every where , washed Jake and his bedding although not together so hopefully have been lucky, Only found one flea so fingers crossed .

I will worm him tomorrow as a precaution against any possible infection and also get some flea treatment later today . Mike

Missed out that oils listed above work as a repellent so you could have Lavender plants at the door just incase they are in the garden we have a cat that passes through at times so you never know just when they have picked them up .

Just thought i would post about the house flea spray we used which offers protection around the home for 12 months , You spray all flooring and soft furnishings room by room then close the house up or each room for 30 mins to debug the house .

It kills eggs larvae and flea adults and any other bug which might enter the house still turning up dead bugs each day after a good hoovering , So we used Virbac Indorex household Flea Spray one can is enough to do a 3 bed detached house although i probably used a little to much in our 2 bed bungalow and have a small amount left . Also did our pick up throughout

Jake was given the all clear at vets and my mind is at ease knowing the house will be protected for 12 months regardless well worth £14.99 plus next day delivery of Ebay , I stop itching and scratching and worrying now thankfully . Mike
