Moved willow to kitchen so could wipe any mess. She went out at 11.30pm she was crying at 4.30 but had already poo'd and we'd. Didnt leave any newspaper so assumed she would call out if needed to go out.

    Any help welcome?

How annoying, at least you've got her on a hard floor now, that's very sensible.

Charlie didn't start asking to go out until he was much, much older than Willow. And all he does is sit by the back door, he doesn't bark or whine, so unless I watch him, I wouldn't know.

I'd go back to basics - start getting up to let her out, if she has poo'd at 4.30, get up at 3.30 etc. a bit of a pain, but not as much as not cracking it for a while.

I didn't get up with Charlie, but he was clean and dry overnight quickly, so guess I just got lucky. I also used a pen, but you could try crating her - it's a smaller space for her to get used to being her den.

Thanks for reply. Willow does sit by door in the day but doesn't cry we just notice she has disappeared !

Yeah could do that. Last week while I was out she we'd a few times in the day within 2-2.5 hours which she wasn't doing previously.

I have got a crate so maybe try that tonight.

I agree with Julie I'd try and pre-empt her, make sure she's only toiling where you want her to and then gradually stretch the time. Riley is two and a half and has never made any noise to go outside we just get a hard stare :)

    Good luck!!

We had the same problem as our crate was too big. Pippa recommended a smaller crate and getting up in the night so I put him in it at 11pm and set my alarm for 2.30am. Took him out for a wee and a poo and with no fuss given, put him back in the crate. He has been dry for a week doing that so
At night tried it from 10.30pm (I was so exhausted) and didn't get up in the night (still exhausted) and my hubby got up when he whined at 6am and took him outside for a wee and poo. He was all clean.

I really think it was the smaller crate that made the difference. I may go back to getting up with him in the night but it is good to know he can go for that length of time.
