After a horrendous few days with Benson, it was good to have a bit of fun with a dummy. Nothing too complicated. I set up a (very amateur... :)) blind, basically hid a dummy up our farm lane. I then set him off after it. He needed a bit of help, you can see he stops a couple of times and looks at me, at this point I am waving my arm in a signal he recognises plus I tell him to "go back" . Just a bit of fun, bit of distraction when Casper tries to help! ;D

He does take his time, so I hope you enjoy the scenery as Benson eventually plods back... :)

    Ah, good lad!

I love Casper's complete indifference, until he suddenly picks up Benson's scent heading off into the distance and just has to find out what's going on :)

    Lovely boys :) :)

Well today, we had an amazing Casper! still completely gobsmacked!

Took both boys up to one of the big open fields, by the house. They have a bit of play, unfortunately with the fur dummy, not so good. Benson did a couple of retrieves before gallivanting off with dummy and Casper hanging off to one end. hmmmm...... 8)

Head back down to the house, this is through some really dense, almost impenetrable brambles, we have a go at them them once a year to try and keep them down. There are pathways going through and that's where I was headed.

I thought just one last retreive, if I throw straight it will land in the tall grass, not too easy but at least I will know where it is and Benson doesn't have a problem through long grass. You guessed it. My straight throw goes completely pear-shaped, fur dummy lands somewhere to my left right in the middle of a thicket of brambles, uneven ground. My first thought, blow they aren't cheap!!

So I send Benson left, he didn't see where it landed...( tbh I only had a vague idea... ::) He has a go, but doesn't go deep enough, he gets quite frustrated though, so I chuck a tennis ball for him to find and head back down. As I head down a delivery arrives so I am distracted by the fact both dogs will try and pile in his van. I hear the driver chatting to the dogs in a friendly fashion, so am relieved...getting closer I realise that Casper actually has the fur dummy! ;D ;D Looking soooo pleased with himself! ;D ;D I am quite frankly amazed!

Good for Casper! Your throwing can't be as bad as mine. Recently I've thrown one toy over the cliff (thankfully at a point where there's a fence) and one over a high fence into a school's playing field! Molly looked most distressed each time. ::)

    Good boys! Both of them!

There is a tree in Wimbldon Common with a dummy hung high in the branches...as the leaves fall, it becomes more and more an obvious reminder of my inability to throw straight...

And I haven't even confessed to the mongoose attached to a bungy tug toy line at the top of a hedge! It's still there...walk by it everyday...
