Hi all, Harvey has been pretty good with his house-training - no poo accidents and very few wee accidents (and most of those were probably our fault!). For a couple of weeks now he has been very good at running to the patio door when he needs to go. We let him out, accompany him to the lawn, say 'do your business' as he, well, does his business, and then praise him when he has finished. However, for the last couple of days he has started running to the back door just because he fancies going out to play. Obviously we don't want to do anything to hamper the house-training but this can get a little annoying after the 10th such incident in a row Is there any way around this?
Re: Good boy! (he said through gritted teeth!) We've just been through this too... Know exactly where you are coming from. I went out with her every single time, and if it was obvious that the excursion was not necessary (necessary excursions are immediate!), tried to make sure she was not rewarded with any sort of play. I have an older dog too, and I didn't let him come with us, so no games with him could develop. This lasted about a week... Only thing I would say, it was worse for the couple of days that we were staying with my mother - Brew could see the garden beckoning to her continuously through the glass patio door... Drawing the curtain helped. Who needs natural light??!
Re: Good boy! (he said through gritted teeth!) Yep,we had this too....it was his during his 'let's go stone hunting phase' it could be about 6 times during the course of his eve....we've got 8 sets of French windows in our lounge ....more window than walls our downstairs!hes grown out of it now, both the lingering, longing looks out on the garden and the desire to dig for stones! ;D
