Katie popped into my head yesterday & when I spoke it aloud, Coco popped his head up from his bed & stared at me is if to say "yes? what do you want?" I've added it to my list (obviously I've forgotten everything on the list )

We like Disney princess names, so we’ve had Jazzmynn, and now we have Ariel.

Some folks above have mentionned themes and one breeder we visited asked for Gone With the Wind names as his bitch had Scarlet in her name. Themes we have had are colour and geography.

Is it for the call name you are looking? Or the kennel name? Or both? I like the call name to derive from the kennel name so our Jetstone Jewel was called Jet. Jet is a semi-precious, glossy black stone used for making jewellery and my Grandmother had a Jet necklace so Jet was feminine for me. And of course she was black. A caution if gemstones are your theme. You might feel you just HAVE to get some in your pup's name and Rubies are quite expensive. Jet is much cheaper. LOL. I did commission some Jet jewellery.

Sometimes the dog's character or circumstances will suggest a name. My first lab was born on Burns night so she was Tammy, after Tam o'Shanter. My second was a lovely deep chocolate so she was Cocoa. Holly was our Christmas present to ourselves, and had prickly little puppy teeth just like holly leaves.

    Well -- I like Cassie :)
I was helping out in a gift shop when thinking about names, and we were doing a Cassis promotion --- so, black Labrador puppy, whose Mum is called Tia Maria, named after a drink made from black currants became Cassis known as Cassie.
She has one sister called Sherry and one called Bailey.

Nibbler was going to be Rosie - then the breeder phoned and said he wasn’t a girl.Nibbler was named after the alien in Futurama and because he climbed on my son’s knee when we went to visit andpicked him by nibbling at him. It suits him so much as he picks up everything in the street - what I think was a condom tonight - I had to wrestle it out his mouth. He’s now in the huff cos I wouldn’t let him eat it. Joy is nice too.

Amber's pedigree name is Spice of life and her grandmother's name was Amber. Amber spice of life just sounded nice.

We narrowed it down using the following questions:

    1. Human or non-human name
    2. Clever/funny or pretty
    3. Number of syllables
    4. "shoutability" at the park (imagine shouting "blah blah! Stop rolling in... /don't eat that... /stop jumping on..." in front of others)
