Hi, Would anyone know why my 10 weeks old puppy is eating grass and that it's causing him to have green diarrhea?
Re: Grass and diarrhea Hi Boyce, and welcome to the forum. I think all dogs like to eat grass. I don't know why but someone who does know will be along in a minute I expect. My dog, Lady, 4 years old has a passion for the big leaved variety and also wheat as long as the plants are young. If she eats too much it either makes her sick or a bit runny at the other end, but otherwise no ill effects.
Re: Grass and diarrhea Hi, Harley eats grass every day! She doesn't suffer from funny tummies because of it.....her tummy problems were due to her food (found out she's wheat intolerant). It might be that the food portions are too much - I usually feed 80-90% of the recommended amount on the bag. If the diarrhoea continues I would go and see the vet.
Re: Grass and diarrhea Yep. I have a grass eater too. She is particular, liking the juicy broad-leafed grasses along the edge of the field, particularly in springtime. She doesn't eat the "lawn" grass unless she is unwell, which is rare. Doesn't seem to put her up or down.
Re: Grass and diarrhea Riley is a grass eater particularly if his tummy is a bit off. I don't think it gives him diarrhea though, sometimes it irritates him and makes him sick. There's usually something prompting the grass eating for us, good luck getting to the bottom of it!
Re: Grass and diarrhea Most dogs eat grass - it doesn't do them any harm. The runs may be due to something else and your pup is eating grass because his tummy feels off. Pro Fibre is great for firming up the poos
