It's Charlie's 6 year gotcha day today I can hardly believe that 6 years have gone by since Charlie our rescue boy arrived in our lives at 9 months old like a white tornado. Not a manner to speak of, no training, not able to play with Hattie, didn't know what a toy/ball was let alone play with it He has sent us over the edge more times than I can count but somehow we got through. We count ourselves very lucky to have this goofy boy in our lives as we have learned so much about dogs, training, clicker training and so much more because of him and all our wonderful forum friends. He is a lovely boy, always trying to sit on your lap always lying at someones feet or on the end of their bed. He is a people dog through and through and greets everyone with great enthusiasm whether it's the post man, friends or family He adores Hattie getting toys and shuving them in her face for a good old game which we thought would never happen, they play endlessly in the garden or just laying around together and they can regularly be found having a snuggle together x He's not perfect by a long shot but he is much improved and we still train on through with LAT etc. to keep improving his life. Charlie, we truly can't imagine our lives without you. We love you big boy xxxxx
That's lovely to read, and a super photo. One of the things I find really helpful on the forum is reading about the progress those of you with rescue dogs @Lara @edzbird, @Beanwood, have made and continue to make, it really spurs me on with Cassie I think if they can do it I can do it with a dog I've had since 8 weeks !
I still have very vivid memories of some of Charlies early adventures! Your love and dedication of this boy knew no bounds, you really knew Charlie, and kept going..despite some fairly depressing and conflicting times with other trainers. Charlie is perfect, he just couldn't be happier, he really couldn't. Bless you Charlie... and Casper says he will raise a bone to you later, your gotcha brother-in-arms!
A very happy Gotcha day Charlie. An amazing boy who continues to make his family proud. Fellow rescue Coco also raises a bone to you Charlie
Looking at Charlie's photo I am quite in love with him He is a very special dog, the 'difficult' ones have that extra something as my Drift had. Happy day today Charlie, you have been a very lucky boy x
Charlie, I remember when I first started reading about your adventures when your mum first joined the forum five years ago almost to the day. You reminded me so much of my crazy rescue cocker Murffi who is the same age as you. You are a very, very lucky boy!! Happy Gotcha Day and here is to many, many more! xx
A very Happy Gotcha Day to Charlie. It's been a steep learning girl for you Helen. You and Charlie's story must surely be one of the Forum's greatest success stories indeed. jac xx
