Perhaps not a lunch time question but here goes:- I've noticed over the last few weeks widgeons pooh seems very hard more often than not. He is feed on a three meal a day rota on CSJ CP27. He also has a 1/4 measure of joint aid and 2 squirts of cod liver oil once a day. He 'produces a stool' at least 3 times a day and never seems to struggle or be in pain. He has constant access to drinking water and after walking I will offer him a drink if we are driving but he rarely has any. He does stodgyish ones which leave a definite mark on the path (like very thick cake fondant) or little bullets (like chewed cardboard pellets) at about a 30/70 ratio. Does anyone else use cp27? I see skinners do a working food with joint aid in for 1/2 the price in a recent shooting mag. Should this concern me do you think?
Re: Hard, dry pooh I think ,might be wrong, but very hard dry poo can indicate constipation or dehydration . Does he drink plenty of water in the home ? With any kind of kibble its really important that dogs drink plenty of fresh water every day or the food stays very hard and then the result is hard poo . It may be that the food just doesnt suit his constitution, could be the wheat content ? I put Sam onto Skinners rice and salmon about 10 monthss ago as I was pretty sure that the wheat in other foods wasnt suiting him , they both do well on Skinners and rarely have any issues poo wise .
