Hello! This is only my second post and I'm hoping it's in the correct section. My Lola is in season for the first time and has been bleeding for 16 days. The last few I have noticed a fishy anal gland smell and I did see her lick her anal area. The anus doesnt look red or swollen and her poops are well formed and not mushy. Could this be a side effect of the heat? Thank you.

    Hi Jo5

From what I’ve read this sounds like it could be a side effect of heat but maybe keep eye on it or if unsure check with vet.

We have a Lola too and are hoping to get her spayed soon providing she doesn’t have her first heat before then. How old is your Lola?

My Maggie is in heat also and the week before her bleeding she had this horrible fishy assy smell I had to wash her down twice. No smell this week, she just started bleeding yesterday.
