    Hello all,
My husband and I recently secured a potential puppy from a breeder here in the UK (parents are KC registered, puppies will be too) and although he hasn't been born yet (2 weeks) we are both very excited to be picking him up at the end of November. We plan to meet him after 5 weeks, and pick him up after 8. So it's a long, painful wait!

To bide my time and stop me going completely mad, I have been learning as much as I can about the breed and training, and that's how I found the puppy handbook (on order) and this forum.

The only thing is... I'm not quite getting a Labrador. My husband has always had retrievers in his family, so I caved and said we could get the hairier cousin. I hope this is okay?

    Pleased to meet you all,

    Christina

Hello and welcome from me and my two terrors, Willow and Shadow. I assume you're talking about a Golden, rather than a Flat-Coat. I guess that means you know what colour you're getting at least ;)

He (and you) will definitely be most welcome here. We love to see puppy photos, so as soon as you have some, you have to share. It's the first rule of the forum ;)

A friend of mine has a 4-year old GR who is just lovely. He did struggle with her towards the end of the "no feet on the ground" stage. A Lab is heavy enough, but she was huge at 12 weeks! :D :D :D

We also have a Lab x GR on the forum, who is a Guide Dog puppy. I'm sure you'll come across Twiglet over the time to come.

Have you started making lists yet? I had loads of lists of things to buy and things to do before pup arrived!

    Hi Christina!
Welcome to the forum. We even let the odd duck and pony grace our forum so we should cope with being polite about a GR ;)
As long as we get the puppy porn........:D
This will be a long wait for you. Plenty of time to read loads and prepare yourself for lack of sleep.
    Hope you enjoy the forum.

Hi and welcome from me and 2 year old fox red girl, Harley
Where abouts in the UK are you?
Such an exciting time waiting for puppy to come. I Would read as much as you can, especially on the puppies board to know what to expect when they come home.

Hi Christina, everyone is welcome here,we have a great opportunity to learn from each other and support each other through the different things that come along...
Dexter is our first dog,a yellow boy of nearly 3..... I didn't find the Labrador Site or Pippa until after we'd settled Dexter in so you have got a great opportunity to read and research as you prepare for the big day!
Let's see some pics when you go to visit x
    Best wishes

Thank you for the warm welcome! It's been a quiet week, sorry, as I have been unwell. But I'm much better now and, yes, I am reading everything I can find. I'm part way through the Puppy Handbook and have bored everyone to tears with all the puppy YouTube videos I've been watching. Super Cooper anyone? :-D

Snowbunny - I do have lists... I am good at lists. Much to my Husband's dismay when he gets the bill at the bottom of the list ;-) We are looking for a golden, yes. But will accept any 'shade' of golden. From pale to dark. It's the right match for us and the right personality we're more concerned about.

We're super excited. And really feeling the impatience. The litter is due on Monday.

Naya - we're in Sussex :) How's the weather where you are?

Jac - Don't worry - there will be much puppy porn. We will take loads of photos!

    Thanks again for the welcome,
    Christina

Thank you Lisa. Simba is our choice for a name for our puppy too :)

We are both very excited and can't wait to go for our first visit. We're due to do so in early November, which seems AGES away!
