Good to read all the different pieces of advice and issues with harness wearing. Finley is 10 weeks old and I want to get him used to wearing a collar. Any tips please. I tried it on yesterday when he was a bit sleepy but when he woke up he kept scratching his neck. It wasn’t too tight as I could get two fingers inside it. Any help appreciated.
Hi there, I have moved your collar posts into their own thread. So, when you are introducing a new collar or harness, the key is little and often. To start with, just put it on and take it off again, many times a day, with treats each time. Then after a few days, start to leave it on for a minute or two while you distract the puppy with a game. You can also put it on before each meal, and take if off again afterwards. In other words, the collar becomes associated with pleasure. The puppy will soon forget about it and you'll be able to leave it on for longer periods of time
