    Hi there,

Labradors moult / shed a lot. Most are kind enough to keep the worst of it to a couple of weeks twice a year, spring and autumn. I'm afraid you can't make it stop. The only thing you can do is encourage the removal of the old 'dead' hair with grooming. And make sure you have a really good vacuum cleaner!

    Hello and welcome.

What Pippa says I'm afraid. I have a black Lab bitch and she permanently moults so the only way to reduce it is to brush or combe regularly. It's amazing how much they produce!

Yep - comes with the territory!
I'm not sure if its that I have just got used to constant dog hair, but I do feel Lilly moulted worse in her first year.
I think a previous post (somewhere on here) discussed something similar and it struck me how much variation there was in the amount of shedding quantities between dogs, although it is a very subjective thing.
Interestingly, the lady who does our hydrotherapy reckons that brushing your dog before a swim increases shedding (in her pool at least!) so not sure brushing is necessarily the answer.
I don't reckon regular baths are good for dogs and their coat condition. I much prefer the wonderful silky feel of Lilly's fur after a couple of rain-drenchings.
Don't think this really helps you, but I think your poll should have an "other" option too LOL.
