Hello to all in the forum! We are looking forward to the arrival of our second Lab, a chocolate boy named Bailey. He will fly to us on 28th April. We lost our beautiful Golden Lab, Cooper 16 months ago at the age of 13. He was, and still is, very much loved and we miss him dreadfully. We didn't think we could love another dog. It somehow felt 'disloyal' to Cooper to even think about a new arrival. But I miss the the love and companionship of a Lab in the house. It's hard to explain but life is so much better with a dog! I did not know of this wonderful community during Coopers life but I hope to use the information here to help in those first few months when I know I will be thinking just what have I let myself in for?!

Hi Bev and a warm welcome to the forum. I'm sorry to hear of the loss of Cooper - they really are heartbreakers, our furry friends.
How old will Bailey be when he arrives with you? Do you have any pictures?

Hi Snowbunny, thanks for the welcome. Bailey will be seven and a half weeks. We have pictures from the breeder but I'm not sure I can post them. I'll have a look and see what I can do. We are getting weekly photos and it's amazing how quickly they grow. Bailey will fly to us as we are using an interstate breeder. He arrives on 28th April so we are very excited!

    Welcome to the forum :)

Totally understand all those feelings after losing a dog.

I'm sure you'll love having Bailey to fill your lives with Labradorness once again :)

Welcome from me and my big boy Pongo in south Wales. Someone on this forum coined the phrase "a sad state of lablessness" for a home without a labrador..... so glad to hear that your lablessness is about to end! Looking forward to hearing all about Bailey.

Hello from Lynne, Henry (7 months) and George (8 years) . Sorry to hear about Cooper, our William died last year and it is devastating I know.

I understand how you feel about being possibly 'disloyal' but I think that the greatest compliment you can pay to a much loved , but sadly departed dog, is that they enriched your life so much that you have to have another one.

    Hope that makes sense.

Great news about Bailey looking forward to news of him!

We are so looking forward to meeting Bailey. We have two grandchildren who are not aware he is coming. They will be coming to the airport to pick him up and we hope they will love him as we do. My 9 year old grandson, who was only seven when we lost Cooper, suffered greatly at his loss. We hope Bailey will temper that loss a little.
